Different Types of Dee Rings

#TackTipTuesday - Dee Ring Did you know both English and Western have a Dee Ring bit? They both have a similar function but look different. Western Dee's can often be also called an off-set dee. They are not usually as large of a cheekpiece as the English style. Both Dee's are examples of a fixed cheek snaffle, compared to a loose ring. A fixed ring is going to be more stable in the horse's mouth, which makes it a great bit for green horses. The fixed cheeks can also add more lateral pressure on the horse's face to help with steering. Have questions about tack? I am always happy to chat! Let's Talk Tack!
