Refund policy
RETURNS & REFUNDS POLICY — EVOLUTION EQUESTRIAN CO.
We want you to shop with confidence, so here's exactly how returns and refunds work. Eligibility depends on what you bought, so give this a proper read before you send anything back.
RETURN WINDOW
- New items: 30 days from the day you receive your order
- Consignment items: all sales are final — these are sold as-is, since we're selling on behalf of another owner
WHAT WE NEED TO SEE FOR A RETURN
- New, salable condition — unworn, unused, no visible damage or dirt, no animal hair. If you're not sure about fit yet, keep the item clean and away from your horse until you are.
- Unaltered — nothing added, removed, or adjusted
- Original packaging, undamaged (no scratches, water marks, folds, dirt)
- Tags still attached
- Your sales receipt or proof of purchase
If an item shows signs of use, we may not be able to accept the return.
If something arrives damaged, let us know through our Contact Us page within 5 days of delivery.
WHAT'S NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RETURN OR EXCHANGE
- Consignment items
- Sale, clearance, or final sale items
- Saddles — new, used, or consignment (see below for how we handle saddle fit instead)
- Used items
- Opened horse health care products (liquids, gels, sprays, powders, topicals, bandaging supplies, wormers, treats)
- Anything exposed to scented products like perfume or deodorizers
- Leather treated with soap, conditioner, oil, or similar
- Books, DVDs, custom or special-order items
- Trial bits
- Purchases made through eBay, Kijiji, or Facebook, unless we've said otherwise
- Items damaged in transit but not reported within 5 days of arrival
SADDLES
Saddles are not eligible for return or refund once purchased. We do not offer shipped trials at this time.
Instead, we offer local saddle trials:
- Trials are available for pickup and drop-off in person at our store only — we don't ship saddles out on trial
- A full deposit is required to take a saddle on trial
- Bring the saddle back to us yourself once the trial period is up
This way, you get to check fit on your own horse before committing, and we know exactly what condition the saddle is in the whole time. If you're outside the Comox Valley and can't get in for a trial, reach out and we'll talk through what we can do.
HOW TO START A RETURN
- Email us at evolutiontack@gmail.com with your order details
- If it's approved, we'll send you a return shipping label and instructions
- Please wait for our approval first — returns sent without it won't be accepted

SHIPPING COSTS
Original shipping:
- Shipping charges aren't refundable
- If your order qualified for free shipping (orders over $200, excluding saddles), we'll deduct our actual shipping cost from your refund
- Example: you spent $120 and got free shipping, our real shipping cost was $15 — your refund comes to $105
Return shipping:
- You're responsible for the cost of shipping a return back to us
- We can't accept collect shipments
- Use a trackable method and consider insurance — we can't take responsibility for anything lost or damaged on the way back to us
DAMAGES & ISSUES
If your item arrives defective, damaged, or just wrong, contact us right away so we can look into it and make it right.
EXCHANGES
The quickest way to exchange something is to return the original item and place a new order for what you actually want — that way you're not waiting on us to process the swap.
REFUNDS
Once we've received and inspected your return, we'll let you know whether it's approved.
- Approved refunds go back to your original payment method
- Give your bank or card provider some time to post it on their end once we've processed it
