Caring for your Rubber Reins

When we need a little extra grip, we usually will reach for the rubber reins in our tack room! However, when they become dirty, slippery and start to fall apart they don't give that extra stick when you need it. Like any piece of tack and equipment, it is important to take care of them properly to make sure they last and stay safe. When caring for your rubber reins, simple is best. Just take a damp cloth and wipe them down after each ride. If you are cleaning more build-up you can use warm water and an old toothbrush. Soaking them is helpful too! Be careful to not apply cleaning agents/chemicals to your reins as that will break down the rubber faster. This includes fly sprays and grooming products too!
