It's a Stage A bit, made for direct reining with two hands, so it's a good choice for starting young horses, working through the basics, or keeping a steady, soft contact on a horse that's already going well.

The 2-piece mouthpiece is smooth sweet iron that tapers toward the centre. That taper leaves a little more room for the tongue without putting anything up into the palate, which a lot of horses with fleshy tongues or low palates really appreciate. Over time, sweet iron develops a light rust patina that most horses find tasty, so you tend to see more chewing and a wetter, softer mouth.
