This high-quality Baby Pelham, featuring swivel cheeks and leverage action, is made of solid stainless steel with Cuprigan inlay on the mouthpiece and two Cuprigan rings in the middle. Cuprigan is an alloy consisting of 89% copper, 7% aluminium, 3% iron and 1% zinc. The oxidation process of the material gives a pleasant smell and taste. The mouthpiece is so designed that the cylinder-shaped middle piece acts as a bushing, which allows both sides of the bit to move independently of the other. As a result, the bit helps you to give clearer aids. The anatomical design of the bit follows the shape of the horse’s mouth, which allows for a gentle and even pressure distribution. The design, combined with the unique mouthpiece with Cuprigan, encourages the chewing process and saliva production, which allows for a pleasant connection with the sensitive horse’s mouth. The upper shanks (purchase arms) with ring are turned slightly outwards, which allows for optimum freedom of the horse’s head. The bit applies sharp pressure on the mouth. Mouthpiece thickness 14 mm, shank length 102 mm. Curb chain included.
A Pelham bit offers four different rein positions: a single rein attached to either the middle or bottom ring, a double rein or a single rein in combination with Pelham roundings. A Pelham bit is often used for strong horses or in situations that require more control such as show jumping or eventing. The longer the shanks, the stronger the leverage.
