Measuring a Western Saddle Seat

Tack Tip Tuesday - Measuring a Western Saddle Seat

We’ve got more saddles rolling in, including this fantastic Bob's Reiner!
When measuring a western saddle seat, start at the center of the pommel/swell and measure straight back to the top of the cantle.
Keep in mind—seat style affects fit! A hard seat will measure differently than a padded one. This saddle features double padding, which reduces the seat size by ½ inch. Measuring to the padded ridge gives us a 16” finished seat size, while the tree itself is built for a 16.5” seat.
