Is my saddle too wide?

#TackTipTuesday - Is my saddle too wide?
This saddle is already gone so I am glad I took the chance to video when I could. This saddle is a great example of when a saddle is too ride for your horse's back.
When a saddle is too wide it will be too tight on your horse's withers then flair out as it goes down the shoulder. When looking for the right width for your horse, you want the tree points or bars to match the same angle as for the horse's shoulder.
If a saddle is too wide, some times it will not provide enough wither clearance with is also a big red flag that your saddle doesn't fit.
Remember horses change shape, and so do our own bodies. It is never a bad idea to have your saddle checked out by a professional saddle fitter.
