Moving your horse out of the snaffle is a big step, and this bit is built to make it a gentle one.

The 5" curved, low port mouthpiece is sweet iron with copper inlays, a combination many horses find encourages a soft, wet mouth and a willing attitude toward the bit. The hinged design and curve follow the shape of the mouth, so it sits comfortably, which is exactly what you want for a young horse still figuring things out.

The 5½" short shanks give you a light to moderate effect. That's enough to start introducing leverage and refining your cues, without overwhelming a horse that's used to direct rein pressure. It's a great bit for teaching the basic maneuvers and building confidence on both ends of the reins.
